Wesley Hunt: “The civil rights movement wasn’t about putting race at the center of everything. It was about moving beyond it.”
Whoopi’s hot takes keep proving just how far gone she is.
“That is so funny to me. My wife and I agree about things in life, about how to raise our children. We have similar beliefs in God.
We grew up in a very similar kind of background of home. My wife grew up in a very conservative area of this country. I am from Texas, but now we have three beautiful children.
At no point in time was I really concerned with what she looked like. I was concerned more with, what do we have in common? What do we agree on?
Is this something I could spend the rest of my life with? And at no point in time did it make me less Black because I fell in love with someone who wasn’t Black. My kids are going to have grandparents that grew up from the segregated South in New Orleans.
They’re going to have grandparents that grew up in the Midwest, two diametrically opposed areas. What they find out is that there’s love from both sides of this family, even though there are different experiences. And my kids will get to go to Mardi Gras with my parents, and then they’ll get to sit on a farm with my wife’s parents.
That’s the beauty of America, is that we have the freedom to do that. At no point in time does it make her less White. At no point in time does it make me less Black.”
