An 11-year-old dog that survived ISIS and served alongside a U.S. Army veteran during wartime is now sitting in a Virginia animal shelter after being seized by authorities.
The family is pleading with the public for help as they await answers about the dog’s fate.
Today was a rollercoaster. @Herb_Minstrel and I went on air with #SeanHannity to talk about our fight to #SaveLucy. That was one of the highest honors of my lifetime. Thank you, Sean.
Then I spoke with the DA. That was also an honor, but the experience was more difficult. I can… pic.twitter.com/mTqX8R0uMa

My heart breaks for U.S. Army veteran Brendan Jones and his beloved dog Lucy. She stood faithfully by his side through war, through stress, and through moments most of us will never fully understand. She wasn’t just a pet; she was his steady comfort, his loyal companion, and a source of grounding in the chaos of service.
Now Lucy has been taken from him and placed in a shelter, separated from the very person she bonded with through some of the hardest chapters of his life.
Lucy survived ISIS controlled territory, came back to the US with her US Veteran @jonesbrendanm and due to a busy body neighbor is now sitting in the pound after being labeled a “dangerous dog.” Bring Lucy Home!! #SaveLucy https://t.co/prOhJVd5tc

Veterans and their service dogs deserve better understanding, better protection, and better respect for the connection that helps them both survive.
We have influential neighbors who are fighting to get me prosecuted and Lucy put down. I think that’s what it comes down to.

Of all my experiences, this is my favorite story.
In 2015, I was camping in the reddish moondust on the border between Jordan and Syria, a stone’s throw from what was then the Islamic State. My first son had just been born. Although this was my fifth or sixth tour, adjusting to… pic.twitter.com/9x5OyUmqUN

The DA needs to let Lucy come home. She's done more time than many accused murderers. This is already grossly disproportionate to whatever happened last month – an event over in seconds, that hurt nobody, and occurred entirely in my own yard.
My own damn yard.
She wants this… pic.twitter.com/1pnO4KiZue
