President Donald Trump released a video from the Oval Office in which he addresses the death of a 23-year-old Ukrainian woman who was stabbed to death on a North Carolina train.

The Trump administration has just announced that they are going to federally charge Iryna Zarutska’s killer with murder, making him eligible for the death penalty.

“She was slaughtered by a deranged monster, who was roaming free after 14 prior arrests,” President Donald Trump said in the video, which was posted to the White House’s X account. “We cannot allow a depraved criminal element of violent repeat offenders to continue spreading destruction and death throughout our country. We have to respond with force and strength. We have to be vicious, just like they are. It’s the only thing they understand.”
