The Wall Street Journal reported on Friday, citing White House officials, that President Donald Trump is planning to sign an executive order making English the official language of the U.S. for the first time.

The executive order decisively struck down a federal mandate established by President Bill Clinton that compelled agencies and recipients of federal funding to offer language assistance to non-English speakers.

Agencies are not required to modify existing accommodations for non-English speakers.
