New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani is under fire for urging prosecutors to dismiss attempted murder charges against 22-year-old Jabez Chakraborty, who was shot by police while wielding a knife during a mental health crisis.

The Police Benevolent Association (PBA) called the Mayor’s comments and visit a “slap in the face” to officers, asserting that the video shows they had no opportunity to de-escalate and handled a dangerous situation professionally.
