And I want to close with some thoughts today about Trump Derangement Syndrome. If you’ve been wondering whether it is abating, well, it isn’t. In fact, I regret to inform you that it is getting worse. It’s more intense. It’s more irrational and frankly unhinged. Today, I bring you two case studies, two prominent voices. These are men who went on national television and frankly said the quiet part out loud. Let’s start with Thomas Friedman.
Longtime columnist for the New York Times, supposedly one of the serious thinkers in American media. This is one of the experts that the liberals always portray as someone to be revered and to be respected when they open their mouth. Now he’s gone on CNN in the last couple of days and said essentially that he hates Iran, he wants Iran stopped, but he does not want Donald Trump to get any political credit for winning a war. And now he’s all torn. Let’s roll it.
…
When you’re watching this man admit on television that his political hatred outweighs his national interest. He hates Trump more than he loves America. And you and I both know that is a common sentiment on the left right now. It’s just that Friedman was willing to say it out loud for some reason. This is not analysis. This is not journalism. No, this is broken brain politics. It’s a mental illness. And also among the afflicted, James Carville.
The raging Cajun himself, fixture on cable news. What does he say? No, he doesn’t want Donald Trump to die. Oh no. Carvel says he just wants to see Trump suffer horribly. Listen to this craziness, cut number 10. I to be clear on this. I do not want that man to die. I want to watch him suffer. And I can’t watch a dead person suffer. So I want him to fully cognizant come November, so when people tell him.
James Carville. I mean, this ought to get you a visit from the Secret Service. What kind of political discourse is this? We’ve gone from, disagree to, no, no, you shouldn’t die, but you should definitely experience physical suffering. These guys are not fringe internet trolls. They’re establishment figures, columnists at major newspapers, top-tier political consultants, regular guests on national television.
These are the people that the important people tell you that we have to listen to, that we have to respect and revere. These are the elites of the elites.
They’re no different from the Democratic politicians pushing dangerous rhetoric that can embolden supporters who then cross the line into real-world violence.
